Fig Almond Cake with Fennel

Step 1

Grind the fennel seeds in a spice grinder until fine. Make the batter following the instructions for the base recipe, adding the ground fennel to the bowl along with the almond flour. Continue as directed. After you spread the batter in the pan, arrange the figs, cut side up, over the top and sprinkle with fennel seeds. Bake as directed. Pictured on the preceding page.
